Dr. Jane Uygur
MD CCFP MClSc

Dr. Jane was born and educated in Canada.  She completed her medical degree at McMaster University and trained in Family Medicine at McGill University in Montreal. She did some additional training in obstetrics, gynaecology, and geriatrics in New Zealand before returning to Canada to complete a “Care of the Elderly” fellowship in her hometown of Ottawa.   

Dr. Jane has fifteen years of clinical experience working in many different settings, both urban and rural.  She loves working with people of all ages and is skilled at managing medical problems from childhood through to the later years. Her additional training in “Care of the Elderly”  has also provided her with an in-depth understanding of health issues specific to this time of life.

Dr. Jane feels that a good patient-doctor relationship is fundamental to providing excellent healthcare.  This is a key concept that she passes on to the medical students that she teaches at RCSI & TCD. Her interest in this area has lead her to research how physicians can best provide compassionate care to their patients.  Having finished her Master’s degree, she is continuing this research as part of her PhD. Dr. Jane is a founding partner of Eldon, since it’s inception in 2019.

Dr. Jane’s Irish husband brought her to Dublin over a decade ago and she loves her new home.  When she isn’t busy working or running after her two wonderful daughters, she practices yoga and Buddhism, goes jogging and sings in a choir.

 

Dr. Seamus Duffy

MB BCh BAO LRCPSI (Hons) BComm (Hons) DCH DRCOG Dip Derm PGDipHPE MICGP FRACGP

Dr. Seamus is originally from Co. Monaghan and graduated from RCSI in 2005. He completed his GP Training in 2010. He has local and overseas experience having worked in Sydney, Australia for 6 years. He holds additional qualifications in child health, obstetrics & gynaecology, dermatology and medical education.

Dr. Seamus is a passionate generalist and loves the broad spectrum of challenges a day in general practice brings. Area’s of interest include mental health, men’s health and sexual health. He emphases preventive care and health education as paramount to healthy living.

He enjoys the challenge of keeping up to date with the breadth of knowledge required for general practice and above all values the ongoing relationships he develops with his patients.

Dr. Seamus is an experienced medical educator. He is a GP Trainer for the TCD General Practice Training Program with responsibility for the education and guidance of GP Registrar’s in the final stages of their post graduate training. Dr. Seamus is currently an Examiner with the The Irish College of GP’s. Dr. Seamus is a founding partner of Eldon, since it’s inception in 2019.

Outside of work, Dr. Seamus enjoys spending time with friends and family and being beaten at tennis on a regular basis.

 

Dr. Barbara Duffy 

BSc (Hons) MB BCh BAO MRCPI MICGP PGCert (Clin Ed)

Dr. Barbara is originally from Cork and graduated in Medicine from University College Cork (UCC) in 2016. She completed her General Practice training with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in July 2023 and has a special interest in Women’s Health. She completed training in Adult Medicine and membership of the Royal College of Physicians Ireland (RCPI) prior to commencing training in General Practice. Dr. Barbara has worked as a Clinical Lecturer in RCSI and she completed a certificate in Medical Education at the University of Edinburgh. 

Having gained experience in various hospital specialities including Adult Medicine, Medicine for the Elderly, Emergency Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Addiction Psychiatry, she enjoys the variety of General Practice from the management of chronic diseases to mental health, women’s health and paediatrics. Dr. Barbara enjoys caring for patients of all ages and is focussed on providing compassionate and holistic healthcare.

When not in work she can be found at the park or the beach with her family and dog. She enjoys pilates, painting and gardening.

 

Dr. Ross Dormer

MB BCh BAO BA MICGP

Dr. Ross joined Eldon Family Practice in 2023. He is originally from Co. Meath and graduated from Trinity College, Dublin in 2013. He completed his GP Training in 2019.

Dr. Ross has hospital experience in Beaumont, Tallaght and Letterkenny University Hospitals and undertook his GP training in Donegal. He worked in a mixture of urban and rural practices including time spent in the Gaeltacht. He has been based in Dublin since 2020. He has recently completed a diploma in Palliative Care. 

Dr. Ross enjoys all aspects of being a generalist. He enjoys getting to understand some of the complexity that affects his patient’s lives. Dr. Ross believes that this plays an important role in creating a positive experience for those who attend him. He also has an interest in headaches and in the prevention of cardiovascular disease. 

Outside of work, Dr. Ross enjoys playing football and hockey. He is also a fan of bicycle touring and cryptic crosswords. 

 

Dr Gerard Murphy

MB BCh BAO MRCPI

Dr. Gerard, a proud Corkonian, graduated from University College Cork (UCC) in 2016. Before commencing in General Practice, he completed Adult Medicine training and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians (RCPI) in 2021. Dr. Gerard has worked in various hospital settings and specialities in Ireland and overseas including Brisbane, Munster and the greater Dublin area. Dr. Gerard is currently completing his post graduate training in General Practice with Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and will be with us at Eldon from July 2024-June 2025.

Dr. Gerard is passionate about all aspects of General Practice and enjoys the opportunity to foster therapeutic relationships with patients. Areas of special interest include men’s health, chronic disease management and care of the elderly.

Beyond Eldon, you might spot Dr. Gerard pounding the pavement during a run or navigating the golf course, desperately attempting to improve his swing.
